Good Science vs. Junk Science vs. Useless Science

Many smart people think that part of their smartness consists in having adopted the proper scientific attitude. This attitude gives them intellectual high ground by empowering them to distinguish between “good” science (such as anthropogenic global warming, Darwinian evolution, etc.) and “junk” science (such as refutations of anthropogenic global warming, the theory of intelligent design, etc.).

But good science vs. junk science aside (the distinction itself is largely bogus), it’s useful to bear in mind a third category: useless science. Unfortunately, much of what passes for green technology is useless, boondoggles of a failed political sytem, ideologically driven, a secular form of pietism.
